Tűzbiztos házasság

Szemptember 18-án, péntek este 19 órától közösen megtekintjük a Fireproof (Tűzbiztos házasság) c. filmet. A filmet a"Végtelen hit" alkotói készítették.

Hatalmas sikert aratott az amerikai mozikban a 2008 szeptember végén bemutatott Fireproof (Tűzbiztos) című film, amely egy tűzoltó házasságának megmentéséről szól. A keresztény házasságfelfogást tükröző film rendezője a Zenit katolikus hírügynökségnek nyilatkozott.

„A film címe nem arra utal, hogy a házasságot soha nem éri tűz, hanem arra, hogy ha jön, ki lehet védeni. Minden házasságot érnek "tüzek", és a védekezéshez a házastársaknak tudniuk kell, hogy a szeretet, az elkötelezettség inkább döntés, mintsem érzelem" – fogalmaz a rendező, Alex Kendrick.

„Amerikában támadják, gyengítik és megpróbálják újradefiniálni a házasságot. Ez a film arról szól, hogy a házasságot tisztelni kell, és érdemes érte küzdeni. A házasság a társadalom tartópillére; ha összeomlik, a család és a közösség omlik össze. Istennek terve van a házassággal; ezt a tervet szeretnénk újra méltó módon felmutatni."

Az amerikai filmeknél megszokott akciójeleneteket sem nélkülöző alkotás rendezője elmondta, hogy a Passió című filmhez hasonlóan a Fireproof is ökumenikus összefogással készült. „Mindannyian egyetértünk abban, hogy a házasságot, amely alapvető a család és a társadalom szempontjából, Isten alkotta, ezért tisztelni kell. A házasság Krisztusnak és az egyháznak képe, amelyért életét adta. Nem nézhetjük tétlenül, hogy a világ leértékelje és folyamatosan támadja azt, ami Isten szemében szent. Nagy áldás volt, hogy együtt dolgozhattunk. A siker a közös munka gyümölcse. Imádkozunk azért, hogy Isten dicsőségét szolgálja, és megváltoztassa népünk gondolkodását."

„A film óriási visszhangot váltott ki. A moziban a vetítés végén sok pár könnyek közt öleli át egymást. A bemutató utáni napok óta több száz e-mailt kaptunk az ország minden részéből. A film hatására több pár elnapolta a válópert. Egy házaspár új jegygyűrűt vett, kifejezve, hogy megújítják Istennel és egymással kötött szövetségüket. Vannak, akik bocsánatot kértek és kiengesztelődtek egymással. Boldoggá tesz, hogy Isten működik, és megváltoztatja az emberek életét" – mondta Kendrick.

90th Birthday

János Végh will celebrate his 90th birthday. One of the greatest honors for me is that János bacsi is one of the most faithful to be at the weekly pre-service prayer time. His life is an inspiration for many. He remains active as many opportunities of ministry open for him each week. I have personally known him for 19 years. My respect for him continues to increase.

His own grandson is a doctor so he knows that the medical students face challenging situations. He personally prays for the students at ICD.

Weekly Bible Study

Here is the weekly Bible study. Dan takes the Bible study from the Church of God Sunday School lessons and formats them into one page to include the series, title, scripture text along with the central truth, golden text and the lesson outline.

Daniel Smith who was born in Debrecen but now will be a senior at Wayne County High School in Waynesboro, Mississippi then translates the lessons into Hungarian.

Then the file is emailed to Samuel Kriszt in Debrecen, Hungary. Samuel then proofs the Hungarian text against the English before sending it back to Dan.

Dan then sends these to churches, pastors and leaders in Hungary. Charles prints the weekly lesson and distributes them each week at the ICD church service.

You can download the lesson each week from the http://www.coghun.try.hu/ website in two different formats: English / Hungarian or only in Hungarian. Power Point presentations are also available upon request. Eventually the Hungarian text PowerPoint will be posted on the website.

Baptism and Picnic

The International Church of Debrecen will have a baptism service and picnic on Sunday, June 28, 2009, at 3:00 PM (15:00) at the home of Káresz and Éva Bedő. They live outside of Debrecen in the village of Ondod, Kocsis utca 20.

Program:
3:00 PM (15:00) – Baptism service
Following the baptism service will be a picnic. Káresz will be preparing a traditional Hungarian dish cooked in the outdoor kettle. The church will supply the drinks, pastries, bowls, spoons, etc.

Travel by car:
From Tesco, take the Kishegyesi út to Debrecen-Ondod.
Take first left onto Hintós utca.
Take the second right onto Kolés utca
Take the first left onto Koscis utca. The house is on the left, number 20.

Travel by bus:
From Debrecen to Ondod by Bus 17 (not 17Y)
Departs from Segner tér or from Kishegyesi út in front of Tesco at 2:00 PM (14:00). Get off at the first stop in Ondod, which is almost 20 minutes from Tesco. Someone will be at the stop to walk you to the house.

Returning from Ondod to Debrecen:
Bus departs at 6:25 PM (18:25).
If anyone wants to return to Debrecen earlier, the bus also departs at 4:25 PM (16:25).

· If you have a monthly bus pass, it is valid.
· If you are traveling with individual tickets, you need to validate 2 tickets to go and 2 tickets to return.

Edith Bond

On Saturday, June 6th, we will say "good-bye" to Edith Bond. (Bring some refreshments to share at the end of the church service.) She will be returning to New Zealand to be with her elderly mother. Her 12 years of service in Hungary is greatly appreciated as well as the last few years at ICD.

Big Saturday Farewell

This will be a "Big Saturday" and the last time that Pastor Ed and Syble will be with us. It will be a night to honour them and celebrate their time in Debrecen at the International Church of Debrecen.

Worship time will be followed by a time of fellowship and we ask that you bring finger food (food that can be eaten using your fingers) and/or drink. We look foward to seeing you and to having a great night together.

ICD is sending Nina back to the USA with our blessings. As a missionary she has served in Europe for about 30 years. We bless her and will miss her as she begans a new era in her life! Thanks Nina for giving to the Lord!

It was a special treat to have Judith Green in service. Not only did she preach a powerful prophetic Word, but we moved throughout the congregation giving words of prophecy and words of knowledge.

Akey is a marathon runner and is an important part of the International Church of Debrecen. Above Pastor Ed is praying for Akey before his Sunday marathon. Mary Jill is giving a word of encouragement to the congregation and Eva is translating it into Hungarian. Veronica Nini is also giving her blessing to Akey prior to his Sunday competition. In the 43k Debrecen Marathon he placed 2nd place and in the Békéscsaba Marathon he placed 1st.

Akey serves as an usher and greeter for the International Church.
